Hollywood Studios, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Up at 7am as I want to be at Hollywood Studios for opening time. We arrived just before 9am, as we were there in September we were there for Frozen Summer so we managed to grab an Olaf on a stick from the Olaf distribution centre. I ended up coming home with 5 Olaf’s oops they are not all for me I promise I got them for the nephews.
First we headed straight for Star Tours as we had fast passes, this is a 3D ride which is quite good but I did have to take my glasses off halfway through as I started to feel a bit sick. You can still see the screen you just don’t get the 3D effect. We then went on Muppets 3D which I loved as I love the Muppets and reminds me of when I was younger. Being a bit of a Frozen fan we went into the Frozen shop and came out with two sweet treats (these were around $4.99 each). We had fast passes for Rock and Roller Coaster so we rushed over to the other side of the park, this has to be one of my favourite rides even Olaf managed to get in on the ride picture.
We had some lunch by the Aerosmith ride we had Pizza which came with a mini salad and two fizzy drinks, we had one each but we could easily of shared. Lunch came to $27.01. We went on the Studio Backlot Tour and while we were on this a big downpour started we came off the ride and had to run for cover, everyone was getting their ponchos out but we still hadn’t bought one. We then had a fast pass for Tower of Terror I screamed and screamed on this. We then went on The Great Movie Ride which is one of these rides that you don’t expect what happens on the ride (I won’t spoil it for anyone). By this time the rain had stopped but there was still some dark clouds lingering around, we headed for Beauty and Beast show which I loved, I used to watch this film over and over as a child and I love the Be Our Guest song. The dark cloud was still there after the show but we wanted to squeeze in the Lights Motor Action Show before we left, we got in line but as this is a weather permitting show and the weather didn’t want to be on our side it was cancelled. The rain was really heavy this time so we decided to leave and go back to the hotel to get ready for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party J. We also got to meet lots of characters at Hollywood Studios they seemed to be out wherever we were.
We headed to Walmart and finally grabbed some ponchos ($3.00 each) the rain was not going to beat us tonight we had been waiting for this Halloween Party. We didn’t have dinner tonight as we were still full from lunch so we just grabbed a few snacks to eat in the room while getting ready.
We managed to get back to Magic Kingdom around 7pm in what I can only describe as torrential and I mean torrential rain I had never seen anything like it before. Unfortunately when parking the car next to us didn’t park very well and as they got out the car they hit our car 🙁 luckily we were still in the car trying to adjust our ponchos when it happened. We then had to sort this and exchange contact details in the horrific rain which wasn’t a good start to the Halloween Party I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at how soaked we were even with ponchos on. We weren’t going to let it ruin our night and carried on to Magic Kingdom obviously we took some photos of how the car was parked etc first. It was really hard to get into the spirit when you were in a huge poncho and the rain was dripping off the end of your nose. We got our wristbands and candy bag and off we went done some of the trick or treating trails. The rain had finally stopped now which was a relief. We stopped off a The Monsters Inc Scream ‘O’ Ween Ball and had a dance with Sulley and Mike who were great fun and got all the crowd dancing.
Then back to Mainstreet for the fireworks they were incredible, the music, effects on the castle and the spooky feel it had. After this we carried on filling our candy bags on the trick or treat trails, the cast members all say happy Halloween when you collect your sweets. America really does know how to celebrate Halloween.
We then watched the parade at 10.30pm and watched it from the left hand side of the castle as you are looking at it. The parade was brilliant and the song will stay in your head for the rest of the holiday, we had a few incidents with our SD card saying it was full then the battery going but we had back up phew.
After the parade a lot of people went home but we carried on and done a few more trick or treat station and the queued to have my photo taken with Minnie and Daisy in their Halloween costumes. After this it was nearly midnight we went to see what the wait time was on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train but this was still 40 minutess so we decided to call it a night. We got the ferry boat back and the villain tram to the car and went home.
We had a fantastic evening even if it started with a bit of a down. If we ever visit again during Halloween we will definitely dress up for the party, people’s costumes were brilliant. Also a little tip, go to trick or treat stations later on in the evening you get huge handfuls of sweets, at the beginning they give you small handfuls. Our sweets are below.
Off to bed ready for our first day at Universal tomorrow.
