Unicorn Cupcakes

As I haven’t baked in quite a while I thought I would go all out with some cupcakes and make some with unicorns on.

The cupcakes are a basic vanilla sponge recipe. I have always used cupcake Jemma’s vanilla cupcake recipe as it is a very simple recipe and always come out perfect.

The buttercream has been flavoured with a cream soda flavouring to give that fun aspect to the cupcakes.  I then used gel food colouring and lined the piping bag with the different colour gels.  After adding the buttercream to the piping bag and start piping swirls on top of the cupcakes you get your lovely rainbow colours coming out.

I have made the unicorns from ready to roll fondant icing. The unicorn horns are made by twisting two fondant colours together and moulding into a cone shape.  I finished the unicorn heads with food glitter which gives them an extra magical look.

After piping lovely swirls on top of my cupcakes I placed my unicorn on top on the buttercream and there we have it fun, flavoured and fluffy unicorn cupcakes.
