Happy Valentine’s Day!
To celebrate Valentine’s Day I made some love themed cupcakes as well as spending the day with my better half 😉
The cupcakes are a vanilla sponge topped with a passion fruit flavoured buttercream. For my buttercream flavouring I use Foodie Flavours Natural Flavouring. Their flavouring gives a strong flavour but as you do not need a lot of flavouring it doesn’t make your buttercream watery.
I piped a buttercream rose on all my cupcakes, the cupcakes I was finishing with fondant I left white and then the buttercream roses I was leaving bare I tinted the icing red to give a more Valentines feel. All my cupcake toppers had been made a couple of days in advance and left to dry out. By drying them out it makes them easier to place standing up on cakes and also prevents them melting onto the icing.
To finish some of the cakes off I finished them with a few red sprinkles .
