Universal Studios, Island of adventure, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Halloween Horror Nights
I was up at 6.30am, we made it to Universal Studios for opening at 8am. The plan was to do all the rides we hadn’t done yesterday and then go back to the ones we did yesterday if we had time. We did the Simpsons ride and then headed to Harry Potter, we took some pictures of the big bus and Diagon Alley then we headed for Gringotts the wait time was already an hour (the park had only been open 35 minutes) but we thought we would wait as we were there and didn’t know if we would be back. We did the ride after chatting to an American couple in the queue for the hour. The lead up to the ride is brilliant all the pictures are moving on the newspapers and walls. You can’t take anything on the ride but if you can squeeze a small camera in your pocket I would. The ride is 3D and the effects are good, I am not sure if everyone built the ride up a bit too much but I was expecting a bit more. The ride also didn’t last very long.
After this we headed to the Hogwarts Express Train to Island of Adventure. The train is very quick and takes around 5 minutes to get from one park to the other. We then did Duelling Dragons again everything needs to be put in a locker and had a look around Hogsmeade. We decided to try some frozen butter beer ($5.50 for one or $10 for 2) as people seem to rave about it. I will now rave about it too it was delicious it tastes like cream soda with caramel it is really good. We then did the Forbidden Journey and Flight of Hippogriff. Forbidden Journey is better than Flight of Hippogriff. The effects in Forbidden Journey were amazing. We then walked through Jurassic park the queue times were too big here but we had lunch here, we shared chicken tenders and fries with a coke which came to $12.95. After this we walked through Toon Lagoon took some pictures, we found a speech bubble that said “I’m going to need a vacation from this vacation” which we thought was very appropriate for me. We then did Spider-Man and the Dr Doom Fear Fall. We then did the Hulk as there was no wait time unless you wanted the front row.
After this I started to feel a bit unwell as I woke up with a cold so we decided to go back to the hotel and sit by the pool for a couple of hours rest. We then got ready for dinner and headed to City Walk we decided on Bubba Gump Shrimp Company as neither of us had been before. The food and service was brilliant we only had to wait 10 minute wait for a table at around 7:30pm. We had starters of garlic bread and onion strings then I had the Cajun chicken sandwich and Sam had the shrimp platter, we both had strawberry lemonade. The food was good and came to $76.72 inc tip.
We then went to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. Now my sister had been to this before and said it was scary so I was really worried about this as I don’t do scary at all. Security was very high going in and throughout the park you had to walk through metal detectors and show the contents of your bag. The light is very dim in the park to give the spooky effect. People are dressed up walking the streets and do jump out on you I managed to keep calm and when one jumped out on me I squeezed Sams hand, the last thing I wanted to do was let them know I was scared. The really go to a lot of effort with costume makeup and the parks effects and props. We only did one house which was Giggles & Gore which was evil clowns we queued for an hour and every house seemed to be a 60-75 minute wait so if you really wanted to do all the houses I would recommend express passes. The house was very scary and I screamed several times, people jump out from everywhere and even Sam said it made him jump in places. I was so proud of myself for doing it as I really didn’t think I was going to be able to when I reached the front of the house. We then watched the Rocky Horror Show which was good. After this we carried out walking round the park with people jumping out in street. You can get away from the scary people down the side streets if you have had enough of them jumping out on you.
We then decided to head back to the hotel. Busch Gardens in the morning woohoo.
