Daytona International Speedway, Florida Mall, Premium Outlets International Drive, The Pub at Pointe Orlando
So today we had a bit of a lie in we slept until 8.30am woohoo the best lay in so far. We then got up and ready to leave to Daytona. First we decided we would go to Ihop for breakfast as we have never been and something we always wanted to do. We both had the 2x2x2 with a side of hash brown. It is basically 2 pancakes 2 eggs and either 2 sausage or 2 bacon but I had one of each. It came to $17. There is only a picture of the pancakes we were so hungry I had nearly finished my breakfast when I realised I hadn’t taken a photo.
We then set off for Daytona International Speedway it took just over an hour and we made it there just in time for the All Access Guided Tour at midday. This was $23 each and lasted 90 minutes. It took us all around the speedway and gives you a little history to the track. There were some photo opportunities along the way.
After the tour we then watched some of the cars race from the grandstand it was great to watch and I can only imagine what the atmosphere is like at Daytona 500 in February.
We then decided to take a drive to the beach and have a drive along the beach, unfortunately when we got there they were not allowing cars onto the beach we didn’t ask why but the waves seemed to be pretty big so I can only think that it was maybe due to that. We didn’t want to drive around looking for a parking space so we headed back to the hotel. It was extremely hot today and the sun had taken it out of us the journey home seemed to go on forever even though it was just over an hour we found ourselves talking rubbish and singing to keep awake and focused on the roads. When we got back to the hotel we chilled out for a couple of hours before heading out to do some shopping.
First we went to Florida Mall I got all my makeup from Macys and Sephora and that was about it I didn’t really like Florida Mall I found Mall at Millenia a nicer mall. We then went back to the Premium Outlets at International Drive as I had picked up the wrong size converse and only realised when I went to pack them in my suitcase so we got these changed over.
After this we went for dinner as we were both starving we went to The Pub at Pointe Orlando. This is like a British pub with an American stamp on it. I had fish and chips and Sam had shepherd’s pie which he said was very dry, we don’t think the Americans know that gravy goes with shepherd pie not salad but my fish and chips was lovely. After this we went back to the hotel as Sam wasn’t feeling very well tonight.
