Like my salted caramel cupcakes, the flavour Green Apple relates to the flavour in the buttercream not in the cake unfortunately. The cupcakes were a vanilla sponge, I whipped up some Sugar and Crumbs green apple icing and decided to colour half of it a pale green colour as I thought it would confuse people as to the flavour of the cakes. I used a two tone pipping bag and nozzle set (from Lakeland) to pipe the buttercream onto the cake to get a circle of icing half green and half white. I wanted to top the cupcake off with something so decided by adding a bit of cinnamon to the top of the cake would make it taste like apple pie. Well it did and it was delicious.
