This bake is back from July, as it was July 4th in the US I thought I would join in on the baking theme even though I was thousands of miles away in the UK.
So I started off by making some rice krispy treats which I would shape and colour into the american flag. I melted some marshmallows and butter in a pan and then added my rice krispies to the pan you have to work super quick with this as its very sticky and seems to stiffen up very quick. Once all the rice kirspies were covered I then separated the contents into three bowls. One for red, one for white and a smaller one for blue. I added a small thumbnail of colouring to each bowl and mixed quickly until I had the desired colour. I then used a square tin and moulded the rice krispies until it looked like the USA Flag. I then whipped up some royal icing to pipe on the white stars. This is a simple and easy bake which can be enjoyed by both adults and children. As I had a lot of rice krispies left I made a few mini flag treats.
I also made some cupcakes, I used a basic vanilla sponge and then topped my cakes with a Sugar and Crumbs Pear Drop flavoured icing, however, again I coloured the icing so I could pipe the America flag onto the top. I loved these cakes and everyone enjoyed the pear drop flavour.
